They are less susceptible to fatigue corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and sulfide stress corrosion. What is 316 Stainless Steel

Grade 316 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel alloy that contains 16%-18% chromium, 10%-14% nickel, and 2%-3% molybdenum. It is one of the most commonly used stainless steel grades due to its exceptional corrosion resistance and excellent formability. Grade 316 is particularly valued in the food processing industry for its ability to withstand extreme temperatures up to 870°C and its superior corrosion resistance. It is also widely used in medical equipment because it does not react with body fluids or cause skin irritation. Additionally, Grade 316’s superior toughness makes it well-suited for industrial environments where resistance to bumps and scratches is important.
